Dena Hermanda Larson, the daughter of James and Gertrude Larson, was born in Fremont township, Moody County. She was educated at the rural schools of this county and lived with her parents until her marriage to Peter Doyle on September 11, 1903. Dena had been the housekeeper for the Peter Doyle family. Peter had been a widower with 6 young sons. Dena and Peter went on to have 7 more sons and one daughter. Dena lived with her husband on a farm 14 miles northwest of Flandreau until 1938 when they retired and moved into Flandreau. Her husband died in 1944.
