Venango Citizen Press, September 11, 1902:

James Dille, of Bradleytown, an aged and highly respected resident of this vicinity, dropped dead on Tuesday morning, of heart trouble, aged 77 years.

He had long been a resident of Venango county and was well and favorably known in Franklin. He was a member of the famous 4th Pennsylvania Cavalry and served gallantly during the civil war. A particularly pathetic incident in connection with the death is the fact that while he seldom went away from home, he was building great hopes on attending the reunion of the Northwestern Association which is being held at Monarch Park to-day. Mr. Dille was a conscientious Christian man, a good neighbor, honest in all his dealings and was universally respected in the community. The funeral will be held on Thursday.

When death occurred Mr. Dille was in his barn. A neighbor had called to borrow something from him and he was reaching in the grainery to get it, when he gasped, fell backward and expired on the barn floor. He is survived by his aged wife and a number of children.
