Millard Hendershot,
Retired Blacksmith
Millard James Hendershot, 78, a retired blacksmith, died yesterday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William Leslie Harris, at 315 Lobb Avenue, Pen Argyl.
Mr. Hendershot was employed as a blacksmith for the Diamond Slate Company, Pen Argyl, for 47 years. He retired five years ago.
He was born in Hope, NJ, a son of the late Mark and Susan Poyer Hendershot, and had resided in Pen Argyl for 54 years. His wife Erna Oakland Hendershot, died 17 years ago.
Surviving besides Mrs. Harris, are four other daughters, Mrs. Charles Weaver and Mrs. Floyd Young, both of Wind Gap; Mrs. Frederick Ace, of Bangor, and Mrs. Merrill George, of Pen Argyl; two sons, Ralph H., of East Lawn, Nazareth R.D. and Carl W., of Pen Argyl; a twin brother Milton Hendershot, of Martins Creek; a sister, Mrs. Harry Branton, Pen Argyl; 16 grandchildren, one step-grandchild; 10 great-grandchildren, one step great-grandchild and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m., at the Swoyer Funeral Home, Pen Argyl. The Rev. E. L. Heiser, pastor of Bethany Evangelical United Brethren Church, Pen Argyl, will officiate. Internment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Pen Argyl.

Services for Millard James Hendershot, 78, were held yesterday afternoon at the Swoyer Funeral Home, Pen Argyl, with the Rev. E. L. Heiser, pastor of Bethany Evangelical United Brethren Church, Pen Argyl, officiating.
Mr. Hendershot died Sunday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. William L. Harris, of 315 Lobb Avenue, Pen Argyl.
Internment was in Fairview Cemetery, Pen Argyl. Pallbearers were Willard, John, and Raymond Hendershot, Harold Frutchey, Arthur Gable, and William Gordon.
