Nellie Beck, daughter of George P. and Alice Wardrip Benham, was born April 2, 1906 and departed this life March 31, 1948, age 41 years, 11 months and 29 days.

At the age of twenty years she united in marriage with John Springgate. To this union three children were born, Paul Edwin and George Elbert both dying in infancy, and one daughter Mrs. Joyce Hardaway who survives.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter, one grandchild, sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Chappell, Irvington; Mrs. Roxie Brown, and Mrs. Ethel Harrington both of Brandenburg; brothers, Pete Benham of Brandenburg; Paul and Barzillia Benham of Louisville; Lloyd Benham of Evansville, Indiana; also nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.

She was a devoted mother and beloved sister. She spent many months in pain and suffering, but showed a true Christian spirit and much patience throughout it all.

She united with Weldon Methodist Church at an early age, where she remained a faithful member until her death. Funeral services were held Friday at Weldon Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. I.H. Owen. Burial in Church cemetery directed by J.D. Ashcraft Funeral Home. Pallbearers were: Paul Benham, Pete Benham, Lloyd Benham, Barzille Benham, Ernest Benham and Lawrence Benham.
