Mrs. Thelma Irene (Stoops) Baughman, 93, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Monday morning, October 21, 2019, in her home.
Born August 16, 1926 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Percy M. and Ida (Bonner) Stoops.
Mrs. Baughman graduated from Quincy High School with the Class of 1944.
She and her husband, the late Samuel N. Baughman, were married on April 16, 1949 in Hagerstown, MD. Mr. Baughman passed away July 2, 2009.
Mrs. Baughman was employed at various shoe factories in the area. She retired from Liberty Manufacturing Co., Emmitsburg, MD.
She was a member of Waynesboro Fish & Game, where she enjoyed fishing. She also enjoyed hunting and eating mushrooms, crossword puzzles, flowers, and liked to watch the Game Show Network and NASCAR, where she was a fan of Alex Bowman.
She is survived by two sons: Jeffrey Baughman and his fiancé Nigle Fones, Waynesboro and Timothy Baughman and his companion, Sherry Codori, Waynesboro; her daughter-in-law, Shirley Stoops, Waynesboro; four grandchildren: Patty Gossard, Rex Stoops, Shawn Baughman and Michael Stoops; one great-granddaughter: Maggie Baughman; one sister, Shirley Huntsberry, Berwick, PA; two special friends, Donna Rook and Raymond Sanders; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Jailbird.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three sons: Roger Stoops, Gary “Butch” Stoops, and Samuel “Denny” Baughman; one grandson, Tony Stoops; and her siblings: Frances, Naomi, Mary, Arlene, Fay, Glenn, Orville, Claire, Garland, Olen, Hubert, and Robert.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, October 24, 2019 in Mount Zion Cemetery, Quincy Township, PA with Pastor Pam Illick officiating.
There will be no public viewing.
