Mr. John Hilton Galbreath, age 87, Ailey, died Sunday, October 3, 2004, in the Toombs Nursing Home of Lyons after a sudden illness.

He was a native of Montgomery County. He was retired from the U.S. Army, a veteran of World War II and the Vietnam War with more than 20 years of service. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon VFW and a member of the New Corinth Baptist Church near Vidalia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Arlena and one son, Carl H. Reed.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Thresea and Juan Hernandez, Ailey; two brothers, William Galbreath, Ailey and Dan Galbreath, California; one sister, Wilma Jones, Ailey; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 6, 3:00 p.m. in the New Corinth Baptist Church with Pastor Rev. Emory Fennell officiating. Interment will follow in the Galbreath Cemetery with full military honors.

Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service of Vidalia was in charge of the arrangements.
