On 10 July 1934, he married Helena Frank, the daughter of John and Emma Wilt Frank, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn. After their marriage, they farmed in rural Olivia. In 1942, they moved into Olivia and William was employed in road construction; as a bus driver; and, at the Elk River Concrete Plant, from 1962 until he retired in 1972.
William was a director on the Bird Island Mutual Insurance Board, and a board member of the District 137 School Board from 1944 to 1952.
William J. "Bill" Wohnoutka, of Olivia, died at the age of 93, on Tuesday, 22 January 2001, in the Renville County Hospital in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota.
He was survived by his wife; children: Robert (Diane) Wohnoutka of Spicer, Margaret (Richard) Bergo of Spicer, Therese (Rob) Kragenbring of Atwater, Phyllis (Chris) Berninger of Crawfordville, Florida, Betty (Marvin) Dubert of Hosford, Florida, Jerry (Sue) Wohnoutka of Richfield, Jim (Kathy) Wohnoutka of Minneota, Dianne (Al) Nichols of Nashua, New Hampshire, Karen (Dennis) Barta of Olivia, Greg (Becky) Wohnoutka of Sparks, Nevada, and Deb (Lionel) Kull of Rice; 38 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; brother, Ed Wohnoutka of Redwood Falls; and sisters, Lillian (Joe) Fischer of Mission Viejo, California, and Cecelia Wlock of Placentia, California.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, one sister, and one granddaughter.
Visitation was from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, 26 January, with a rosary at 7:15 p.m., and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continued on Saturday, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia.
The funeral service was held on Saturday, 27 January 2001, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. The Reverend Phil Schotzko officiated.
William was buried in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota.
