Edward Harry "Ed" Wohnoutka, the son of Frank and Antonia Sembaur Wohnoutka, was born on May 25, 1911, on the family farm south of Bechyn, in Beaver Falls Township, Renville County, Minnesota. He received his education at the District 7 School. As a young man, Edward was employed on a farm near New Prague.

On November 16, 1937, Edward married Lillian Ann Pumper, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale. Edward and Lillian lived near Bechyn for one and a half years, and in 1939, they moved to a farm near Olivia. In 1942, Ed and Ann began farming north of Redwood Falls, where they continued to live for the next 55 years.

Edward was active in the community. He served on the Beaver Falls Township Board for 39 years, on the North Redwood Elevator Board for 27 years, and on the District 7 School Board for six years. He was active at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bechyn and at the time of his death, was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, in Redwood Falls. However, his greatest accomplishment was raising his children.

After Edward retired from farming, he and Lillian spent many days enjoying their lake home on Green Lake in Spicer, socializing with friends and family and catching fish. Edward and Lillian enjoyed traveling with family and friends. One trip was to the Czech Republic, accompanied by his two sisters and his brother-in-law. Both of Edward's parents were of Czechoslovakian ancestry, and Edward was proud to be 100-percent Czech. In the spring of 1999, accompanied by his children, Edward made his second memorable trip to the Czech Republic.

Lillian died on November 23, 1997, one week after their 60th wedding anniversary. After her death, Edward continued to live on the farm where he enjoyed his bountiful garden, apple orchard, wine-making, and meticulously taking care of his lawn with his John Deere tractor. He also enjoyed card playing, polka music, and spending time with his family.
