REDKEY, Ind.--Elsie McCowan, 71 RR 1, died Thursday in Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.
She was born in Livingston, Tenn., and had lived in Redkey for 42 years. Mrs. McCowan was a homemaker. She attended Freewill Baptist church, Dunkirk, and First Community Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Donald McCowan, Daniel McCowan and Norman McCowan, all of Redkey; two daughters and a son-in-law, Imajean and Jay Simons, Redkey, and Barbara Huber, Dunkirk; three brothers, Estel Bilbrey, Destel Bilbrey and Bestel Bilbrey, all of Tennessee; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Elva and Cleo Swallows, Velva Padgette, Belva and J.C. Phillips and Delva and Thomas Clark, all of Tennessee; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Elvin D. McCowan, died in 1989; a son, Doyle McCowan, died in 1958, and a daughter, Erlene Miller, died in 1957.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Freewill Baptist Church, Dunkirk. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Calling will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at MJS Mortuaries-Redkey Chapel.
