Born in Monterey, Tenn., to Elvin and Elsie (Bilbrey) McCowan, she is survived by her husband Francis J. Simons. A member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Dunkirk, she worked at Glass and More in Muncie. Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Duane J. Simons, Redkey, and Christopher D. Simons, Muncie; a daughter, Jeanette E. Templeton, Redkey; a sister, Mrs. Doug (Barbara E.) Mink, Redkey; three brothers, Donald C. McCowan, Monterey, Tenn., Daniel L. McCowan and Lawrence "Poncho" Norman McCowan, both of Redkey; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services are Friday at 11 a.m. at First Freewill Baptist Church, 12369 West 600 South, Dunkirk, with Pastor Oliver McCowan officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Redkey. Visitation is Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at MJS Mortuaries Redkey Chapel.
