Destel Bilbrey, 75, of Clarkrange, passed away Aug. 6, 2001. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Aug. 9 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. The Rev. Bud Hargis and the Rev. Michael Swallows will officiate, with interment to follow in Midway Cemetery.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Bilbrey was born March 19, 1926, in Overton County, TN, the son of Vanus and Ova Della Phillips Bilbrey.
He retired from Manchester Tank in Crossville after 30 years of service, and had also worked in the timber industry. He was a member of the Union B Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Opal Neely Bilbrey of Clarkrange; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Ronald Harris of Monterey; son and daughter-in-law, R.D. and Charlotte Bilbrey of Clarkrange; sisters, Velva Padgett and Delva Melton, both of Monterey; brother, Bestel Bilbrey of Monterey; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brenda Kay Bilbrey; sisters, Belva Phillips, Elva Swallows, Elsie McCowan and Delsie Swallows; and brothers, Vestel Bilbrey and Estel Bilbrey.
