Mrs. Sylvia Bell Pack, age 86, of Brandenburg, Ky. died Saturday March 25, 2000, at her residence. She was born May 8, 1913 in Meade Co., Ky., the daughter of Ruben Sanford and Mary Magdalene ( Benham ) Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Oliver Columbus Pack, a granddaughter, Mary Angela Pack, two brothers, Gus and J.R.Thomas, four sisters, Margaret and Lottie Thomas, Verna Raymer and Louise Dix. She is survived by three children, William (Bill) Pack, Earl Pack and Thelma Whelan all of Brandenburg. A step daughter, Georgia Riechers of Fremont, Ca., daughters-in-law Janice and Shirley Pack, a brother John Thomas, four sisters-in-law, Ruby Pack, Lillian, Ruby and Maggie Thomas, 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was a member of New Brandenburg Baptist Church and J.R. Dink # 347 Order of Eastern Star. Eastern Star Services was held at 7:30 PM Monday from the funeral home chapel.
Funeral services was held at 2:00 PM Tuesday from the chapel of Hager Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave Garrett and Rev. Dee Murphy officiating. Music was provided by Gaye Jean Chapman, Alice Johnston, Susan Turner and Jennifer Manion. A granddaughter, Becky King, stood in front of the casket and sang a special song to her grandmother. Burial was at New Brandenburg Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by Hager Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Kent and Robbie Pack, Reece and Lee Wardrip, Jeff Berry and Randy Magallon. Honorary bearers were Junior, Chris, Brittney, Justin, Morgan and Ryan Pack, Megan and A. J. Magallon, Shane Aubrey, Jayne and Ethan Wardrip, Crystal, Amanda and Seth King.
