Rueben Thomas, son of J.W. and Jo Ann Powell Thomas, was born February 25, 1881. Departed this life October 13, 1940 at S.S. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital, Louisville, Kentucky, following a few days illness, at the age of 59 years. He was united in marriage to Mary Benham February 7, 1911. To this union were born eight children, two of whom died in infancy.

He leaves to mourn his going, his wife, three daughters, Mrs Walter Raymer, Mrs. Oliver Pack, Mrs. Eli Dix of Brandenburg; three sons, Gus Thomas of Montana; J.R. Thomas and John Thomas of Brandenburg; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Elisha Thomas of West Point and J.P. Thomas of Brandenburg; five sisters, Mrs. Robert Cissels of Muldraugh; Mrs. Jim Collins of Bartles; Mrs. Dan Shacklette of Brandenburg; Mrs. Chriss Aebersold of Louisville and Mrs. Leonard Board of Missouri.

Funeral services were held at New Brandenburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Burton Callico officiating. His favorite song "Jesus Hold My Hand" was sung by Mr. and Mrs. George Wardrip and Mrs. Earl McQuillen. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
