He was born December 3, 1926 in Vernal, Uintah County to James T. Holfeltz, Sr., and Effie Bernice Warby Holfeltz.
He married Florence Leona Jones on September 3, 1947 in Salt Lake City.
Jay loved being with his family. He enjoyed camping and fishing. He enjoyed playing in the dirt, watering, and taking care of his garden.
He liked hunting in the mountains. He loved people, was always willing to help, and the first to start a water fight. He served for six years in the Jordan River Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Florence; children, Katherine Smith, Linda (Roger) Turville, and Gail (Jim) Tilson; fifteen grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Calvin Jay Holfeltz.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pleasant Green Third Ward Chapel, 8739 West 3000 South, Magna. A viewing will be held at the church on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and prior to the services on Wednesday from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
Interment will be held in the Valley View Memorial Park.
