Emma May Holfeltz Freestone, 80, died 8 September 1991, following a long illness.

Born 11 December 1910, in Midway, Utah to James T. and Emma Mae Henry Holfeltz. Married Albert N. Freestone, 15 October 1931, in Salt Lake City, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. For 47 years May was active and held many positions in the LDS Ashley Ward, Vernal, Utah. She also served in the Whiterocks Indian Mission with her husband. After Albert's death in 1979, May moved to Salt Lake City.

May was known and loved for her generosity. Her home was always open to friends and family, often on a long term basis. In addition to her own five children, she raised three nephews, many Indian placement students and foster children. May was a creative seamstress who delighted in providing clothing, quilts and decorative items to countless families and individuals. In addition, she kept a large garden that was always beautifully maintained. The produce was shared generously with others in the area as well as used by her extended family. May, a talented writer, was often asked by others to write poems, stories and commemorative pieces. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Survived by daughters Deon Freed and Boneta Haslem, and sons, Lloyd, Robert, and Douglas Freestone; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters, Twila Jackson, Bea Saccomanno, Lhea Hicken, Donna Lee Poplin, and Glenda Rae Brown; brothers Lamont, William, Glen, James, and Duane. Preceded in death by her husband, Albert, sister, Nelda and brothers, Darrell and Grant.

Funeral services Thursday, 12 September, 12 noon, Ensign Peak Ward, 125 East North Sandrun Road, Salt Lake City; and Friday, 13 September, 12 noon, Ashley 1st Ward, Vernal, Utah. Friends may call at 10:30 AM prior to each service.

Interment Vernal Memorial Park. Family suggests contributions to any worthy charity. Funeral directors Larkin Mortuary
