Born January 25, 1925 in Vernal, Utah to Effie Warby and James T. Holfeltz.
As a young woman she realized farm life wasn't for her so she moved to Salt Lake City, where she continued to grow and share a robust garden every year. She was an expert seamstress. Her quilts and baby gowns are enjoyed by thousands of people through her humanitarian donations.
Grandma shopped for Christmas gifts year round. She was a planner. She even wrote her own obituary but we had to change it somewhat since she wasn't one to toot her own horn. She was a frugal collector with an eye for a good deal and was no stranger to a hardware store. She was a mainstay in her neighborhood for 68 years.
She married Melvin Saccomanno July 11, 1945. He passed away a week before their 40th Anniversary.
Survived by sons: Melvin Jr. and Paul, daughters, Sharon Weeks and Colleen Welch; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, brothers Jay and Duane Holfeltz, sisters Glenda Rae Brown and Lhea Hicken.
A viewing will be held Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 16, at Haven Ward, 2280 South 300 East, Salt Lake City at 11:00 am with a viewing one hour prior.
Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
