Son of Rev. John and Rebecca Ann (Little) Denning.

He married Lottie Myrtle Bennett in Lincoln, Illinois in May, 1902.

Edward was in a coal mine accident at the Williamsville Mine at Shelbyville on December 5, 1919. He died on the 14th day of December at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois from burns he received from falling into a sump, caused by an accident. He was only 34 years old. He was the mine superintendent, and there was an inquest held on his death.

Edward Denning

Edward Denning was born in 1881. He was married to Myrtle Bennett in May 1902. To this union were born eight children, Ruby, Fern, Mae, Erma, Edward, Edna, and Gilberta., William (Billie) died at birth. He died Sunday, December 14, 1919 at St. Johns Hospital of injuries received while performing his duties at the Selbytown mine one week previous, at the age of 38 years and 8 months.

Deceased was a former resident of Athens, moving with his family to Springfield less than three years ago, securing employment at the Selbytown mines. He was a member of the Red Men, Loyal Order of Moose and United Mine Workers of America. As before he died he gave himself to God and died in triumph and death. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and seven children, three brothers and two sisters other friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church in this city Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Lathrop, pastor, assisted by Rev. M. Kown. Interment in West Cemetery
