Plainville -- William J. "Bill" Ubert, 92, Plainville, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 1996, at the Rooks County Nursing Home, Plainville. Mr. Ubert was born Sept. 10, 1904, at Catherine.

He was a retired oil field pumper, a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Eagles Lodge, all of Hays; Knights of Columbus, Plainville; Moose Lodge, Salina; Sunflower Polka Club and Midwest Polka Club.

Survivors include four brothers, Walter and Robert, both of Hays, Victor of Kansas City, Kan., and Wilfred of Arvada, Colo.; and three sisters, Sally Molleker, Ella Rose and Lilly Staab, all of Hays.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m, Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, the Rev. Michael Scully officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars. A vigil will be at 7:30 p.m. today, at Hays Memorial Chapel.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, 20th and, Pine, Hays 67601.
