Hays -- Robert J. Ubert, 90, died Dec. 4, 2000, at Hays Good Samaritan Center. He was born Jan. 14, 1910, at Catherine, the son of Frank and Catherine Schukman Ubert.

A lifetime Hays resident, he was a farmer retiring in the 1980s. He belonged to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Hays.

On Nov. 19, 1935, he married Louise Ruder at Hays. She died May 14, 1998.

Survivors include: a son, Bob, Overland Park; a daughter, Judy Carney, Augusta; two brothers, Victor, Kansas City, and Wilfred "Fritz," Denver; two sisters, Sally Molleker and Lillian Staab, both of Hays; and five grandsons

He was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Alphonse, Francis and Walter; and three sisters, Ida Goetz, Hilda Jacques and Eleanor Ross.

Vigil service will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cline's Mortuary of Hays. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Hays, with Father Earl Befort presiding. Friends may call from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday, both at the mortuary. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hays.

Memorials may be sent to the Hays Good Samaritan Center or for Masses, both in care of the mortuary.
