Edward F. Scieszinski, 78, of 26 10th Ave. W. died Oct. 7 at St Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa.

He was born in Monroe County on Dec. 14, 1904, the son of Frank and Mary Fitzgerald Scieszinski. A lifetime resident of the Albia area, he farmed until retiring in 1968. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

On Oct. 15, 1938 he married Mary Early in Georgetown. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Edward M. Scieszinski of Albia Route 1; three grandchildren; two brothers, Vincent of Melrose and Sylvester of Davenport; and one sister, Mildred Feehan of Melrose. Preceding him in death were three brothers and two sisters.

The funeral was 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Revs. Philip Cardenzana and Paul Donahue officiating. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Melrose. A rosary was 8 p.m. Sunday at the Humeston-Gilbert Funeral Home. An open memorial has been established.
