Margaret was the youngest dau. of George Elder and Christian Hosie. She was one of seven children born in Port Glasgow, Scotlnd. She was two years old when her mother brought all of the children to Canada. Her father had come before to prepare a place for the family and settled in Huntingdon. When she was 21, she married John Henry, another Scot. on Feb 25, 1839 and they settled in the Elgin area. To this union were born nine children: Jane, Mary, George Elder, Christina Hosie, Margaret, Janet, Christina, Robert and Ann. She died here in Elgin in 1875 at the age of 57.
