David Elder was the youngest son of George Elder and Christian Hosie. He was born in Scotland and immigrated with his mother to Huntingdon in 1819 when he was 5 yrs.old. His father had come to Canada in 1817 on the day that his little sister, Margaret was born, so his mother came later with the children. David married Isabella Clark on March 16, 1840 in Huntingdon. To this union were born nine children: Helen, Christina, Isabella, George, Jane, Elizabeth, Robert Clark,David James and Mary Ellen. David died in Huntingdon on April 10, 1887 at the age of 72.
