"William Carr Sr., 86, of 3289 Cottage Grove rd., died June 23 at Akron City Hospital, after a long illness. Born in Linn, W. Va., Mr. Carr lived in the Akron area for 34 years. He was a former coal miner and also worked at Goodyear Aerospace. A member of East Liberty Church of the Nazarene, Mr. Carr and his wife would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Sept. 3, 1976. Preceded in death by his son, Edward Clayton Carr, U.S. Navy, who was killed in World War II, he. is survived by his wife, Lovena P. (Osborne); sons, Morris F., Charles, William D. Jr., Arden, and J. Richard Carr, all of Akron, Wesley Carr of Alliance, O.; daughters, Mrs. Mary Rowan and Mrs. Melva Lint, both of Akron, Mrs. Helen Harless and Mrs. Hazel Taylor both of Clinton, O.; brothers, Charles, of Barberton, Leland of Akron, and Brooks of Phoenix, Ariz.; 41 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Schermesser Funeral Home Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service, which will be 1 p.m. at East Liberty Church of the Nazarene, Rev. Clayton P. Wilson and Rev. W. W. Hoot officiating. Interment East Liberty Cemetery."
