"Arden (Art) O. Carr I went home to be with the Lord on February 16, 2009 at his home. Born July 20, 1928 in Carmichael, Pa., he lived in Akron for 65 years. Preceded in death by his parents, William Doy and Lorena Pearl Carr; son, Rodger Edward Carr; brothers, Fleetwood and Clayton; sisters, Mary Rowan and Melva Lint; he is survived by loving companion, Mabel Surrarrer; sons... Daniel Glenn Carr... daughters... daughter-in-law... brothers, Charles, William, Wesley, Richard; sisters, Hazel Taylor and Helen Harless; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Arden was well known in the Akron area for his musical entertainment and played with the Grey-haired Teenagers in area nursing homes for nine years. Along with other family members, Arden sang and played on a religious radio program in the 50's. Arden retired from B&W in Barberton and was a member of OCWMA. His family and loved ones will miss him dearly. Funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road (Route 619 in Green), with Reverend Michael Shaub officiating. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to service. Interment at East Liberty Cemetery. A special Thanks to Hospice of Summa for all their love and care. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Summa, 444 N. Main Street P.O. Box 2090, Akron, Ohio 44398-6153. "
