George was the son of Henry Sterner and Emma Jane Almoney. He married Edna Catherine Masenheimer on October 9, 1924 in York, York Co., PA.

George and Edna were the parents of ten children:

George Henry Sterner of York died after a brief illness Sunday at Memorial Hospital. He was 85.

Mr. Sterner was a retired employee of the former Readco Manufacturing Co.

Born in York, a son of the late Henry and Emma Almoney Sterner, and husband of the late Edna C. Masenheimer Sterner, he leaves three sons, Richard E. Sterner, York, Barry D. Sterner, Wellsville and Jerry L. Sterner, York RD 8; four daughters, Jane E. Fissel, York RD 10, Shirley M. Barbaretta, Harrisburg, Fay E. Hale, Manchester and Patricia A. Sullivan, York; 25 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Chas. E. Leber Funeral Parlors, 200 Carlisle Ave.

The service will be 10 a.m. tomorrow at the funeral parlors with burial in Mount Rose Cemetery.
