Dick was the son of George Henry Sterner, Sr. and Edna Catherine Masenheimer. He was married twice:
1. to Betty Marie Hartman on June 3, 1954 in Westminster, Carroll Co., MD. She died in 1986.
2. to Dawn Machree (Eyler) Fink on April 23, 1988 in Hellam Twp., York Co., PA.

Dick and Betty were the parents of three children:
1. Kim E. Sterner
2. Susan M. (Sterner) Doll
3. Melissa A. (Sterner) Shanbarger

Dick and Dawn had no children.

Korean War veteran

York -- Richard E. Sterner, 72, of York, died at 10:43 p.m. Thursday at York Hospital. He was the husband of Dawn M. (Eyler) Fink Sterner and the late Betty Marie (Hartman) Sterner.

The service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Christ Lutheran Church, 66 S. Main St., Manchester. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Koller Funeral Home, 2000 W. Market St., York.

Mr. Sterner was born Feb. 22, 1929, in York. He was the son of the late George H. and Edna C. (Masenheimer) Sterner.

He was a machine mechanic at Dallco Industries in York, retiring in 1994 after 42 years of service. He attended Christ Lutheran Church in Manchester, a member of the Dallastown American Legion Post 605. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Sterner also is survived by a son, Kim E. Sterner of Dallastown; two daughters, Susan M. Doll of York and Melissa A. Shanbarger of Chambersburg; two stepsons, Michael L. Fink of Manchester and Jeremy T. Fink of Maryland; two stepdaughters, Pamela Grubic of Mount Joy and Kathleen A. Dederer of Dillsburg; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two brothers, Barry Sterner of Wellsville and Jerry Sterner of New Salem; and four sisters, Jane Fissel of New Salem, Shirley Barbaretta of Harrisburg, Fay Hale of Manchester and Patsy Sullivan of York.

Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Danny P. Kingsborough.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 66 S. Main St., Manchester 17345; or to a favorite charity.
