Sigvart Svendsen Succumbs

Sigvart Svendsen, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Brede Svendsen, was born on April 19, 1890, at Newfolden, Minnesota. He attended school and grew to manhood at Argyle, Minnesota. Mr. Svendsen served with the U.S. Army during World War I.

Following his discharge from the Army, he returned to Argyle where he had since resided. He was united in marriage to Miss Louise Schroeder on November 24, 1926, at Stephen, Minnesota.

Mr. Svendsen had been in failing health for several months and passed away at the Veteran's Hospital at Fargo on Monday evening, January 7th. At the time of his death he was 72 years, 8 months, and 8 days of age. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Darold and Lester Svendsen, both of Argyle; two daughters, Grace (Mrs. Roger Stole) of Halstad, Minnesota, and Muriel (Mrs. J. J. McDonald) of Arvada, Colorado. He is also survived by six grandchildren, four brothers, and five sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Funeral services for Sigvart Svendsen were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12th, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church at Argyle with Pastor Lane Doerring officiating. Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Argyle. Mrs. Lane Doerring served as organist and accompanist for Harvey Dyrud.

Primary pallbearers were: Clarence Gast, Obert Solhaug, Emil Helberg, Carl Adolphson, Ole Bustrack, and John Walker. Active pallbearers were: Clayton Dufault, Victor Lornnger, Donald Hedquist, Stephen Zippa, Harold Smith, Roland Brouillard. Military rites were by Argyle American Legion Post and funeral arrangements were in charge of Carlson-Collins Funeral home of Argyle. p. 5, January 17, 1963, Stephen Messenger
