George M Buck, 64, prominent well known local resident, passed away Monday at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines where he had been a patient for about two months. Mr Buck was a lifelong resident of this community.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon from St Paul Lutheran church with the Rev E J Braun officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Marshalltown. Graveside rites were conducted by members of Terrestrial Lodge No. 276, A.F. & A.M.

Mr Buck was born in State Center, May 15, 1897, the son of Corydon and Olive Beatty Buck. He was educated in the State Center schools.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Schuler on August 26, 1920 at State Center. For 38 years Mr Buck has operated a truck line in this area, known as Bux Trux.

He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Masonic Lodge and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Order of Eastern Star and Modern Woodmen of America. He served as a member of the town council of State Center at one time.

He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Karen at home, Mrs Howard Lander of Albion and Mrs Vernice Meekins of Fremont, California; three sons, Merle of Columbus, Missouri, Daniel who has recently returned from Korea and will be stationed with the US Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and Earl of State Center.

Also surviving are two brothers, Ralph of Dundurn, Sask., Canada, and L C Buck of State Center; three sisters, Mrs Norma Corbin, of Nevada, Mrs Maxine Hindt of Monterey, California and Mrs Zella Benson of Grinnell; a step-brother, Hugh Daniels of Orange, California; and a step-sister Mrs Dorothy Reubenbauer of Monterey, California; and eleven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren and two sisters.
