Nicholas Henry Hughes, aged 73, of Springfield, and formerly a resident of Waverly, died at Memorial hospital Tuesday morning. He was a native of Macoupin county, and was born November 3, 1872, the son of Nicholas and Hannah Hughes. On December 30, 1900, he married Adeline Ramsey, who died in October 1932.
He is survived by two sons, Estel, of Peoria, and Wilda, of Riverside, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Essie Collins, of Peoria, and Mrs. Wilma Gibson, of Pawpaw, Mich.; three brothers, Richard, of Springfield, Oscar, of Waverly, and Lewis, of Centralia; a sister, Mrs. Clara Palmer, of Montana; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at the Bisch Memorial home in Springfield Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, and burial was in East cemetery, at Waverly.
