Birdie was the fifth of ten children born to Henry Stoneman and Candis Isabelle (Price) Smith. Birdie married (1) Henry Hampton Holliday and they were the parents of two sons: Robert Stoneman and Paul Burlin. She married (2) Early Clinton Davis in 1923 and (3) Jasper Lucien Stukes.

Mrs. Birdie Smith Stukes, 82, of 1867 Merritt Drive, died this morning at her residence.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Street Chapel with the Rev. Myron Leonhard and the Rev. Jerry Mills officiating. Burial will be at Guilford Memorial park.
She was a native of Alexander County and was a retired employee of Cone Mills. She was a member of Clifton Road Baptist Church.
Surviving are sons, Robert S. Holliday of Level Cross and Paul Holliday of Greensboro; brother, Tallie Smith of Burlington, sister, Mrs. Carrie S. Stout of Burlington; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
