Henry S. Smith Dies
At Local Hospital
Henry Stoneman Smith, 80, pf 3818 Spring Garden Street, died at 1 p.m. today at Wesley Long Hospital, where he had been a patient three days, Smith, in declining health for the past several years, suffered a stroke Monday.
A native of Alexander County, he came to Greensboro 33 years ago and many years operated the Pomona Shoe Shop here. During the past year he was associated with his grandson in the Holliday Shoe Shop on Spring Garden Street.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Mamie Underwood and Mrs. Birddie Davis, both of Greensboro, Mrs. R. W. Hearne, Spindale, Mrs. L. L. White, Rock Hill, S. C., and Mrs. E. C. Stout, Route 2, Meband; three sons, R. E. and Thad Smith, both of Greensboro, and T. W. Smith of Burlington; one brother, Bell Smith, Burlington; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were incomplete this afternoon.

Last rites will be conducted at Pomona Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday for Henry Stoneman Smith, 80, of 3818 Spring Garden Street, who died yesterday at Wesley Long Hospital. Service will be in charge of Rev. C. M. Oates, pastor, and burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park. The body will remain at the residence until the hour of the service.
