Daughter of Simon Holden Pearson (1821-1887) and Amelia (Milly) Holden (1822-1901) and wife of Thomas Yarborough (1852-1895), Winnie was the mother of nine children born in Greensburg and Kentwood, LA - Ella (1875), James Elmos (1877), John Harvey (called Pat, 1879), Mahlon Pearson (1882), Tollie Marvin (1884), Lonie Belle Yarborough Watson (1885), Eudora Vivian (Toodie, 1888) , Sara Adda (1891), and Eva May (1892) Yarborough. Five of her children died very young (Ella, Tollie, Toodie, Sara, and Eva) and three sons died in early middle age (James, Pat, and Mahlon). Only one of her children survived to old age, Lonie Belle, who lived with her in her later life. Winnie was widowed early, in 1895 at age 37.

Winnie and Thomas were married March 26, 1874 in Franklinton, LA. The 1880 census shows them living in Ward 2, St. Helena Parish (Greensburg); in 1900, a widow, she remains there with three of her five surviving children, John Harvey (Pat, age 20), Mahlon (18), and Lonie (14). They are working the family farm. By 1920, she had moved with her daughter Lonie Belle to a house in Kentwood, where she remained until her death. The porch of his house is show in the background of the attached image; the house still stands in Kentwood.

Winnie died Thursday April 1, 1937 at 5:00 a.m., age 78 years 8 months, and 5 days. Funeral services were held at her residence in Kentwood on Friday April 2, at 9:00 a.m. and she was buried in Ponemah Cemetery in Bogalusa near her son Pat.
