William Baylos Pearson, known as Baylos, was the 10th of eleven known children of Amelia (Milly) Holden Pearson and Simon Holden Pearson. He first appears in the 1860 census in St. Helena Parish (the family farmed near Liverpool). Never married, he remained with his family and also appears with them in the censuses of 1870 and 1880. He varied his work on the farm by occupation as a "road hand" on occasion. Among family papers is a note in which he is called Roadhand and asked to bring a shovel to work on a bridge; the note is signed by "G. D. Simpson, Roadmaster." Although no official record remains, he is likely buried among his many kin in the cemetery of Day's United Methodist Church near Liverpool.
