Mahlon was the fourth of nine children of Thomas Yarborough (1852, MS - 1895, LA) and Winifred (Winnie) Pearson (1858 LA -1937 LA). He worked for the Southern Railroad as a track foreman. On 2 Feb. 1913 in Clay, AL, he married Ida Ella Buckhannon (1896-1935) and the couple had three children before Mahlon's untimely death about 1926 in Alabama. The children were: daughter Henry Lynn, b. about 1917 and d. before 1935, son Francis M., b. about 1922 and d. in 1955, and son Mahlon Pearson Jr. (called Smut), b. 1923 and d. 1950. At the time of his WWI draft registration, Mahlon lived in Rome, Georgia.

He died in Alabama and lived in Georgia but may have been brought back to LA for burial. The family have been unable to discover the cause of his death or place of his burial and would greatly appreciate any information about him.
