The first child of the six children of John Yarborough (1817-1905) and his second wife Sarah Ann Pearson (1832-1908), Thomas Yarborough was born in China Grove, MS near the Marion County line. He married Winifred (Winnie) Pearson (1858-1937), a daughter of Simon Holden Pearson and Amelia (Millie) Holden, on 26 March 1874 in Franklinton, LA. The couple had nine children, suffering the early loss of five of them (Thomas died before the loss of the last of these, Eva May). Their children were: Ella (1875-1894), James Elmos (1877-1917), John Harvey (called Pat, 1879-1931), Mahlon Pearson (1882-1926), Tollie Marvin (1884-1885), Lonie Belle (1885-1970), Eudora Vivian (called Toodie, 1888-1892), Sara Adda (1891-1891), and Eva Mary (or May, 1892-1897).
