Even though her monument gives her birth year as 1884, we believe May 10, 1885, is correct because her sister, Della, was born Apr. 19, 1884, and her brother, Thomas, was born Jul. 6, 1886.

Anna Elizabeth "Bessie" Bucklew, 85, of Independence, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harold McMellon, in Arthurdale.

She was born May 10, 1885, in Gladesville, a daughter of the late George and Ruth Martin Holmes.

She was a member of the Gladesville Baptist Church.

At the time of her death, she was survived by four sons, George Bucklew, Noble Bucklew of McKeesport, PA, Foster Bucklew and Dalton Bucklew of Independence; ten daughters, Mrs. Helen Rohr of Reedsville, Mrs. Anna Trickett of Morgantown, Mrs. Louella Franklin of Corona, CA, Mrs. Edith Phillips of Deseret, UT, Mrs. Hallie Bucklew of Lorain, OH, Mrs. Grace Baylor of Newburg, Mrs. Thelma McMellon of Arthurdale, Mrs. Dolly Turner of Kingwood, Mrs. Marie Chidester of Reedsville, and Mrs. Mauceline Lyons of Masontown; and 34 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ohley Bucklew, in 1953, one son, one sister, and four brothers.

Burial was in the Gladesville Cemetery.
