She was born May 14, 1918, in Independence, a daughter of the late Ohley and Anna Elizabeth Holmes Bucklew.
She was a homemaker, loved to garden and quilt. She was a cook and rendered service to family and neighbors, and was a friend to all.
She was survived by a sister, Dolly Turner, of Kingwood; two brothers, Dalton Bucklew and wife, Yevonne, of Morgantown, and George "Bud" Bucklew and wife, Jeanne, of Reedsville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold McMellon; and eight sisters and three brothers.
A family graveside service and interment was held in the Arthurdale Cemetery, Sunday, Feb. 24, with the pastor Neil Parsons officiating.
