La Crosse -- Jacob A. Schaffer, 83, died Wednesday at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend.

Born Dec. 31, 1897, at Liebenthal, he married Josephine Schuckman April 24, 1923, at Liebenthal.

He was a retired City of La Crosse employee and was a lifetime resident of Rush County. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, La Crosse.

Survivors; widow; sons, Marvin, Denver; Eddie, Arvada, Colo.; brothers, Henry, Pete, both of La Crosse; Steve, 2700 N. Washington; sisters, Abbie Weber. Oakley; Anna Schuckman, Ransom; Rosa Schuckman, La Crosse; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the church; Father George Mueller. Burial at La Crosse Cemetery.
