Preble Township records indicate Olaf's birth was on 28 Nov 1880 but his christening record indicates his birth on 21 November and his name was spelled Olaus. He was the second child of eight born to Jens and Kari (Hanson) Norby. MN state death records indicate his death was 16 Sep 1957.

Obituary from Lanesboro Leader, 19 Sep 1957

Olaf Norby, 74-year-old resident of Lanesboro, died at his home Tuesday morning, September 17. Born in Preble township on November 21, 1883, he started to do carpenter work when 15 years of age. When he was 25 years old he went to Hettinger, N.D. for two years then returned to Fillmore County and settled in Lanesboro.

On July 15, 1914, he married Clara Peterson and to this union was born one child who died at birth, in 1920. His wife also preceded him in death. Surviving are three sisters, Marie, Mrs. James Donelson of Spokane, Wash., Mathilda, Mrs. Adolph Olson of Whalan and Cora, Mrs. Peter Johnson of Whalan, and two brothers, Julius of Anoka and Joseph of Mabel. One brother and one sister preceded him in death. Also surviving are 21 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 20 at 1:40 at Johnson Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran church with Rev. A. m. Jothen officiating. Burial will be in the Lanesboro cemetery.
