Marie was the third of eight children born to Jens and Kari (Hansen Lyngen) Norby. She married James (Donaldson) Donelson 6 Feb 1907 at First Lutheran Church in Whalan, MN and they had two daughters:
Jean Marcella 1908-1985, m. Howard Kirkpatrick & Herman Fry
Alice Carla 1911-1986, m. Raymond Surig & Gordon Taylor
Although their marriage record indicates James was using Donaldson as a surname, by the 1910 census they were using Donelson and for the most part, records show that surname from that time on.
