Kari was the daughter of Ole Hanson and Maglie Ingebrigtsdatter and was born on the Lynge farm in Storen, Norway. She came to America in 1868 with her parents when she was twelve years old. Her surname has been listed as Lyngen and as Hansen or Hanson. Kari married Jens Norby 28 Nov 1877 in Preble Township, Fillmore Co., MN. They had eight children.
Jens died in 1932 and Kari died a few years later following a heart attack in 1937. She had lived several years with her daughter's family, Cora (Mrs. Peter Johnson)
