ARTHUR RANES DIES TUESDAY

Arthur M. Ranes, 78, of Moulton, died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the St Joseph Hospital in Centerville. He had been ill for several months, and had been a patient at the University Hospital in Iowa City. He was born in Putnam County, Mo., April 4,1878, son of John (Jack) and Marie Ranes, who preceded him in death. He was a member of Masonic Lodge in Moulton and a member of the United Brethren Church in Udell. He was united in marriage to Myrtle V. Wright March 25, 1900, who preceded him in death June 25, 1952. Also preceding him in death were one daughter Opal, one infant son, three brothers [Alex, Hank, Riley] and two sisters [Stella, Inez ]. Surviving are three sons, Vinton Ranes, of Colorado; Orlo Ranes of Centerville; and J. B. Ranes of Ottumwa; two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Summers of Wyoming and Mrs. Oma Bowers of Eddyville; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; three brothers, Oscar and William of Centerville and Albert of Florida; four sisters, Joana Hamilton of West Des Moines; Mrs. Edith Iantorno of Denver, Co; Mrs. Nettie McGee, and Mrs. Della Henderson of Centerville. The body is at the Eagle Funeral Home in Moulton. Funeral arrangements are pending. (from Iowegian, Wed. Sept.19, 1956 )
