Walter John Adolf was the second son of Peter Adolf and Kathryn nee Schmoll. He was born on July 18, 1894 in Osceola County, Iowa, and passed away on June 17, 1958 at the Hand Hospital in Hartley at the age of 63 years and 11 months.
He was married February 16th, 1916, to Celestia Mesch. To this union five children were born They are Deforrest and Derry at home, Daryl of May City, Pearly, (Mrs. Arthur Steinke) of rural Hartley and Dale, of rural Everly. His wife preceded him in death on December 10, 1947, as did his parents, one brother, Helmuth, and one sister, Martha Buchan.
His survivors include his five children and four grandchildren, Larry and Lana Steinke, Shelley and Sherri Adolf, two daughters in-law, Fearl and Shirley Adolf, one son-in-law, Arthur Steinke, two brothers, Herman of Richmond, California and Armin of rural Hartley, two sisters, Mrs, Emma Martinek of Wesley, Iowa, and Mrs. Eva Kaiser of Sutherland, Iowa, besides aunts uncles, cousins and a nost of friends.
He spent all his life in: this community and engaged In farming. He was baptized and confirmed in Trinity United Church at Hartley. Funeral services were held in Trinity Church with Rev. Ralph Maschmeier officiating. Mr. Jake Moermond sang and Mrs. H. Pike played the organ.
