Patience Effie Ann Ingle was born the child of Andrew Jackson "Jack" Ingle and Frances Adeline "Fannie" Green Ingle.

Patience Effie Ann Ingle Martin always went by the name of "Effie". The name on her headstone reads Effie A. Martin.

She married William "Bill" Denton Martin on November 16, 1902 in Marion County, Al. They had eleven children of which ten lived to be adults.

They lived in rural Marion County on County Highway 74. There her husband Bill farmed and was a Baptist minister while Effie tended her children and home.

After the death of her husband, she moved to Moline, Il (Quad-cities area) with her son Basil and his family. There she died of lung cancer at the age of 73.

Mrs. Effie Martin Native of County Dies in Illinois

Mrs. Effie Martin, native Marion Countian, died in Moline, Illinois, where she had been hospitalized for several weeks for treatment of cancer.

Almost a lifelong member of the Free Will Baptist Church, Mrs. Martin had devoted much of her time and energy to church work. She was married to Elder W. D. Martin, who preceded her in death. Most of her years were spent in Marion County, but in the past few years she had been in Moline, with her children after her health declined.

Her body was returned to Winfield, where Veasey Mortuary directed services from the Liberty Free Will Baptist Church on Wednesday, following her death of May 9. The body lay in state in the home of her son, Earnest Martin, near Winfield, until the day of the services. Last rites were said by the Rev. H. A. Pitts and the Rev. G. C. Lawrence, Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery.

Surviving are ten children: Basil, Billy, Clarence, Newt, Lester, Earnest and Valentine Martin; Mrs. Clyde Waites (Wates.), Mrs. Edward Lolley, and Mrs. Harold Reece (Reeves); three sisters, Mrs. John Moore of Route 1, Brilliant; Mrs. J. T. Weeks of Winfield, and Mrs. Jeff Graham; one brother, N. D. Ingle; forty five grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren.

Among the out of town relatives who attended the last rites were; Mr. and Mrs. Newt Martin and Wayne, Mr. and Mrs. Basil Martin and family, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Martin and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Martin and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Waites (Wates), Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lolley and family, Mr. Bobby Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Wymon (Wyman) Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Martin and baby, all of Moline; Mrs. Harold Reece (Reeves) and children of Birmingham; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Martin and family, Birmingham; Elder Grady Martin of Florence; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Maddox of Haden, Arkansas; Mr. and Mrs.Witty (Widdy) Atkins of Moline; Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Joe Herold (Harrod) and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wymon Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Neal Pettagross (Neil Pappas), all of Moline; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Clifton of Phenix City; J. H.(John Henry) and O.C. Taylor of Jasper; Mrs. Chloe (Vera Cloe) Graham of Tifton, Georgia; and N. D. (Newton Dowel) Ingle of Mt. Eagle, Tennessee.
