Billie Junior Martin was born in rural Marion County, Al to William Denton Martin and Patience Effie Ann Ingle Martin.

He married Mary "Bonnie" and together they had six sons; Billy, Mark, Kenneth, Wayne, Bruce and Donnie.

They moved to Moline, Rock Island County, Illinois in the early 1950's. They later divorced and Billie never remarried.

Later in life, he lost an arm from the elbow down and one leg from an electrical accident.

Billie died at Meadow Lawn Nursing Center in Davenport, Iowa. His grave is at Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport, Iowa. He has no headstone. He is located next to Michael D. Martzahn.

Billie J. Martin, 73, of Davenport, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at Meadow Lawn Nursing Center, Davenport.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel at Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to Riverview Freewill Baptist Church, Bettendorf. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Survivors include his sons, Billy and Mark, both of Colona, Wayne, East Moline, Bruce, Alabama, and Donnie, Rock Island; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his brother, Basil, Tennessee.
