William "Newt" Martin married Sarah "Beatrice" Flippo on May 8, 1937. They had two sons, Jimmy Don and Charles Wayne. They lived in Marion County, Al and moved to Green Rock, Henry County, IL in the 1950's. Newt retired from John Deere and moved back to Marion County, AL along with his wife Beatrice. They lived in the Pea Ridge Community near County Highway 42.

After his beloved wife Beatrice died, he married Sarah Gray Akers Wilson in 1982.

Newt died in a single car accident in rural Marion County, AL.
