Fannie Lucille Martin married Clyde Wates on September 27, 1932. Together they had four daughters; Dorothy Mae, Ruby "Inez", Willie Ann, and Helen Lucille.

Clyde and Fannie moved to Illinois in the 1950's where Clyde worked for Rock Island Mill Works and then John Deere. They later moved back to Marion County, AL and lived on County Highway 42.
