Edward W. Max was a painter and carpenter and also had 200 acres of land which he rented out to his nephew. Charles W. Max worked on the farm and later took over the farm when his father died in 1943. Mrs. Max, and sister, Clara, stayed with him. Emma C. Max lived in Breckenridge and was employed at Breckenridge Telephone Company for 30 years as an operator. She later worked at Jorgensen Variety Store in Wahpeton, N.D. for 9 years, then retired and now lives in Breckenridge. Otto R. Max bought a farm, 7 miles northwest of Foxhome, MN and farmed until he retired. Louise H. Max marred Wilfred Barringer. They farmed west of Rothsay. They had 2 sons: Kenneth, who died at age 14, and Lyle, married to Margaret Popple. They have five children. Henry S. Max married Hazel Schumann and they live in Fergus Falls, MN. They sold their grocery store and are retired. Ida O. Max who worked in Pittsburg, PA for several years is retired and lives in Breckenridge with her brother. Clara A. Max is keeping house for her brother who lives in Breckenridge. Anne L. Max died at 7 months. Lena A. Max married Ralph Bullene. They bought a farm southwest of Rothsay. They have one daughter, Marlene. Lena died August 16th, 1972. Marlene married Lawrence L. Dow who works at Lillegard's, in Wahpeton. N.D. Marlene is Bookkeeper at Speis Super Valu in Breckenridge. They live in Breckenridge and have 2 sons; Lee and Mitchell. Charlie Max sold his farm (the Max homestead) in 1973 to Dennis Torkelson. Edward and Otto Max sold their land and then the 3 boys bought a house in Breckenridge. June 7th. 1974 and moved to town.
