Mildred was born and grew up in the Barsola community in Cherokee County in East Texas. She was one of six children of Ben Thomas and Lula Standard. In 1949 she moved to Sugar Land and was employed by Imperial Sugar Refinery in the packing department for 34 years. She enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family and friends. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sugar Land, and later Sugar Creek Baptist Church. Her husband of 26 years, Willie (Bill) Vaculik passed away in 1976. Her daughter Patsy Kreusch passed away in 1981. She is survived by a daughter Brenda and husband Rodney Ashford, a son-in-law Paul Kreusch, grandsons Jeff Kreusch and wife Kelly, and Justin Ashford and wife Jennifer, granddaughters Julie Kreusch and Jodi Ashford and husband Shane Weber, as well as great grandchildren Jacob and Jordan Kreusch, Justice and Jaden Brown, and Jared and Jake Ashford. Mamaw was the Queen of our Hearts, and we will miss her dearly.
