Funeral services for Lindon D. Bishop were held from the Elliott Baptist Church on Monday, May 2 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. C.C. Larrison officiating, assisted by the Rev. Walter Crabb.

Interment was in Elliott Cemetery with Heartfield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Wayne Hancock, Leslie Hancock, Roy Lee Bishop, Louis Bishop, James Hancock and Thomas Bishop. Named as honorary pallbearers were Carl Wayne Martin, Earston Boatwright, Jesse Bishop, Morris Flatt and all employees of General American Transportation Corporation.

Mr. Bishop was born at Bishopville on August 1, 1909 and was 56 years and nine months of age when he succumbed May 1. Most of his lifetime was spent near the Elliott community and he was a member of the Elliott Baptist Church.

Survivors include his widow of Elliott, one son, Bud Bishop of Bryan; a daughter, Mrs. Marie Barnett of Elliott; six grandchildren; three brothers, Walter and Denny Bishop of Hearne and Will Bishop of Houston and five sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Spencer and Mrs. Minnie Hancock of Hearne, Mrs. Nannie Byrd of Franklin, Mrs. Florence Martin of Bryan and Mrs. Dollie Glover of Elgin.
